Globalstar's GSP-1600 is the best solution for customers that need a portable voice and data communications device that also offers position location, extended battery life, or expanded international roaming capability.
The GSP-1600 supports Globalstar's Position Location service, which can be used to determine the approximate geographic location of the handset. The standard battery remains charged for almost 20 hours in satellite mode, giving customers more time between charges. Expanded roaming provides additional coverage to customers travelling in Asia, Central America and the Caribbean. The tri-mode feature allows customers to use the GSP-1600 for cellular communications where CDMA 800 and AMPS 800 service is available.*
Satellite data capabilities provide remote access to vital information via e-mail or the Web. Using an optional data kit, laptops and PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) devices can be connected to networks at speeds of up to 9.6 kbps. Maritime and vehicle kits readily convert Globalstar's GSP-1600 into fixed systems, enabling customers to also use their phones inside vessels, cars and buildings.
