Globalstar’s Position Location service quickly and easily provides your approximate geographic location. It is a complementary service, available exclusively for the GSP-1600. This particular phone uses an algorithm to calculate the latitude and longitude of your location based on the time, angle, and distance information from the satellites, and is accurate to within 10 km (6.2 miles) of your exact location.*
To obtain your current latitude and longitude, simply complete a call, then press the MENU, 4, 3, and UPDATE keys. Press the ? or # keys to note the date, time, and accuracy of the information. Your handset will always display the coordinates for your most recent call. If your location has since changed, place another call before retrieving the current latitude and longitude.
It is good to know that if you need to be located in an emergency, Globalstar can provide the coordinates to narrow the search and speed the response. Your Globalstar Authorised Dealer can provide you with additional information.
*Many variables affect the accuracy of the coordinates, including the number of satellites serving the call, the distance between the satellite and the handset, and the position of the satellites in the sky.
